Five Retrofit Packages. One Honest Recommendation.

Every package starts with a diagnostic and follows the same rule: identify what's there, seal the air paths first, then insulate to a target the assembly can actually hold. All of it delivered by one coordinated team, with your home protected from the first day to the last.

Every Package Starts at Code

Utah's 2026 energy code sets the legal minimum for every home in the state. Every Hansen package meets it and we document it, so your inspection goes smoothly. Then we help you decide how far past code makes sense for your home and budget.

  • Walls insulated to R-21 or better
  • Ceilings and roofs to R-38 or better
  • Floors over garages, crawl spaces and open air to R-30 or better
  • Conditioned basement walls to R-10 continuous or R-13 cavity
  • Air sealing documented with a blower door test or the code's air-sealing checklist
  • Ducts outside the living space insulated to R-8
  • Mechanical rooms that draw outside combustion air insulated and sealed
  • Unvented roofs and vaulted ceilings built with closed-cell foam or rigid board on the cold side for condensation control — R-20 minimum in Climate Zone 5B, R-25 in Zone 6

Choose your level. Daniel will recommend one at your assessment, and you can mix and match by area.

Quiet Home Upgrades

Insulation isn't just about heat. A typical interior wall with empty stud bays lets normal conversation carry straight through. Filling those bays with dense mineral wool typically makes a wall noticeably quieter, and mineral wool doesn't burn, so it adds fire resistance where it's installed. These are optional add-ons to any package or project.

Envelope Reset

$8,400 – $12,500

Attic Reset plus the two areas that carry the biggest loss in a Utah home of this age: empty wall cavities and an unsealed rim joist. This is where the return lives.

What's included

  • Everything in H1 — Attic Reset
  • Injection or slow-rise foam into empty exterior wall cavities
  • Closed-cell spray foam at the full rim joist and band board perimeter
  • Sealing of the basement-to-attic stack path
  • Post-work blower door reading so you see the change, not just feel it
Best for
Any home built before 1980 with uninsulated walls.

  • Crawl space encapsulation with closed-cell foam at stem walls
  • Duct sealing and duct insulation through unconditioned space
  • Combustion safety testing on the furnace and water heater after tightening
  • Written performance report: before and after air changes, R-values by assembly, photo documentation

Typical savings
Typical annual savings $980–$1,240

Heritage Brick Program

$6,000 – $18,000

A separate program for the solid-masonry and double-wythe brick homes of the Salt Lake valley — the Avenues, Sugar House, Liberty Wells, Capitol Hill, and the pre-war brick stock in Bountiful, Murray and Provo. These homes are the most under-insulated buildings in the state, and also the ones where insulation done carelessly causes real damage.

What's included

  • Wall construction assessment: solid multi-wythe brick or brick veneer over frame
  • Brick and mortar condition, frost resistance, prior spalling, and rain exposure
  • Grading, gutters and downspouts — bulk water management corrected first
  • Graduated insulation approach: moderate closed-cell thickness, vapor-open assemblies where brick is marginal
  • Honest recommendation: if brick is in poor condition, we say so
Best for
Pre-1945 brick homes in Salt Lake County.

  • Walls: batts, blown systems, mineral wool, or exterior continuous insulation
  • Rim and cantilevers: air-sealed, high-detail transition work

  • Radiant floors and heated driveways: load-rated insulation so purchased heat goes where you intended
  • Photo verification record delivered before walls, roof or concrete closes access
Best for
New construction and major remodels in Summit and Wasatch counties, plus historic Park City homes needing a preservation-aware upgrade.

Need to know what Utah code requires?

Read the Utah Insulation Code guide

Code only requires R-38 in your attic, but Enbridge Gas's ThermWise attic rebate pays only when the finished attic reaches R-49 to R-60. Going past code is what unlocks the rebate, and we file the paperwork for you. The federal insulation tax credit ended December 31, 2025, so utility rebates are now the main incentive available.

The federal 25C energy-efficiency tax credit ended for insulation installed after December 31, 2025. Utah utility rebates from Rocky Mountain Power Wattsmart and Enbridge Gas ThermWise remain available — and Hansen handles the paperwork for you.

Signs Your Home Is Losing Heat Right Now

Utah winters are unforgiving. These are the most common warning signs we find during assessments.

Energy bills that spike every November and stay high through March
Rooms that never quite reach the thermostat temperature
Cold floors over the garage or crawl space
Ice dams forming at the eaves after a snowfall
Drafts near outlets, switches, or baseboards on exterior walls
HVAC running constantly without reaching setpoint
Visible frost or condensation on interior surfaces in winter
A basement or crawl space that smells musty or feels damp

Recognize any of these? A free assessment takes about an hour and tells you exactly what's happening.
